The amazing part about this text is He knows us through and through and still loves us. That’s the thing that stuns me, I mean really it does stun me, I ask Who am I, that the lord of all the earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt?
Now, “Jesus, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they made Him a supper there and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. Mary took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of perfume.”
He is the resurrection and the life. This is a dramatic claim. The first would be astounding enough, but to claim ‘I-am’, which is the fifth of seven ‘I-am’ statements in John’s Gospel, and we will see it in this chapter.
One reason we are studying this course is so that we can understand who Jesus really is and what He can do for us. In Jerusalem many persons believed in Jesus when they saw the miracles that He did. Let us believe what the Bible teaches about Jesus.
